2019 Bike Fest – June 6-9th

The line-up this year includes some old favourites and new spins as well as the opening of our much awaited community bike workshop – THE BIKE CIRCUS!!!  Located in ‘Christmas Yard’ next to Spillers Lane, come avail of free bike clinics every Friday from now until October and we will be hosting plenty of workshops there during the festival.  This year we are delighted to be welcoming special guests from the London Bike Kitchen, community workshop and cafe.  Come along to the cycles to meet Jenni and get inspired!

THURSDAY 6TH JUNE 2019

Opening Night: Lap of Clon, Greenway  & Bike Shop News @ THE BIKE CIRCUS, Christmas Yrd: 7PM Join us in your finest attire for our annual lap of the town, then back to the new Clon Bike Circus for some nibbles and drinks to launch this new community bike workshop space.  Meet our special guests who will be cycling with us throughout the weekend.  Time to celebrate!

FRIDAY 7TH JUNE

Bike Clinic, 10-2pm @ THE BIKE CIRCUS, Christmas Yard (by Spillers Lane) Is your bike in need of a little TLC? Bring it down to our esteemed mechanics and learn how to fix’er up yourself!

Bike Wash  @ THE BIKE CIRCUS 12-2pm  Give your bike some sparkle by putting her through our bike-wash!  Donations towards further setting up this amazing new space we have for our community bike workshop.

Inchydoney Family Picnic : 4-6:30PM MEET AT CLON BIKE CIRCUS           A fun and relaxed cycle for friends, families and kids of all ages – BYO picnic and prepare for some fun on the beach.

The Bike-Lovers Forum, 8-10pm @ O’DONOVANS-THE VENUE,  Join us and our special guests to get stoked, inspired and have a good ol’ bike-friendly brainstorm.  The format: Inspiring 5 min talks, each followed by lots of time for questions and snacks and repeat.   Special guests include Jenni (of the London Bike Kitchen & author of How to Build a Bike, Damien (of Cyclist.ie & European Cycle Fed.), Patrick (of Cityview Wheels – electric bikes) and representatives from our own town council.  PLUS Come test drive some electric bikes

SATURDAY 8TH JUNE

Family Bicycle Hullaballoo @CROPPY PARK: 11AM-1PM
Co-hosted this year by Ulick O’Beirne of Training Wheels!  Navigate our cycle courses and get top tips for cycling success.  Plus a special opportunity for adults to test drive some electric bikes!

Slow Bike Race CROPPY PARK 12-1PM:  Have you been practicing all winter? Time to show us who‘s the slowest cyclist in Clon!

Special Guest Workshops @ THE BIKE CIRCUS -Led by Jenni Gwiazdowski of the London Bike Kitchen:

1:30-2pm  M CHECK’ YOUR BIKE: Learn this simple and thorough technique to check a bike over for road worthiness.

2-2:30pm ‘Change yer tube’:  bring your bike, and learn to be the master of your own wheels, tyres and tubes!

Estuary Nature Cycle  MEET EMMET SQUARE 5PM: co-hosted by Nick Mitchell of Bird Watch Ireland, a cycle around our beautiful estuary to learn about some of the local wildlife on our door step.

Cycle-in Cinema – Cycle Shorts @ O’DONOVANS VENUE, 8-10PM:  FREE WITH BIKE/€5 WITHOUT:  Get creative with your iPhone camera and bike pals and submit your own cycle-short movies! We will screen them alongside a selection of beautiful and inspiring bike films. Prizes to win! (email film link justin@justingrounds.com)

SUNDAY 9TH JUNE

To Will or Not Two Wheels? meet at EMMET SQUARE: 11am SHARP! Twelfth Night on bikes.  A Dramatic cycle-ride around Clonakilty, stopping for scenes in open air spaces from our young actors, courtesy of the fantastic Clon-Upon-Avon festival.

Farm-to-fork BBQ Cycle MEET EMMET SQ  3PM  €15

A scenic cycle via Castlefreke woods to Camus Farm where will be hosted for a BBQ dinner (veggie options will be available!) Book by emailing [email protected], return to Clon by 7pm or camp at Camus farm, check out/book at camusfarm.ie

End of Festival Party DEBARRAS 9PM:  Join us for Clon’s first Bikeoke and a well-earned boogie to celebrate CBF 2019!
